Craobh Thrá Li Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann was founded in Trá Lí in 1969. The meetings were held on Sunday afternoon in Breen's Hall in Church St. Tralee. The founding committee was: Cathaoirleach: Mrs Aloysius Doyle, Leas Chathaoirleach: Mr. Paddy Griffin, Runaí: Máire Bean Uí Ghríofa, Cisteóir: Mr. Tom O'Brien.
They ran extremely successful Céilithe in the Grand Hotel, Denny St., Trá Lí for many years. Craobh Trá Lí won first prize in Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in 1980 and 1981 with their Grúpaí Cheoil. Máire Uí Ghriofa won first place in fonn mall on fiddle in 1980. Máire O'Keeffe won first place in piano and Avril Bowler won accordion. In an Comhrá Gaeilge competition, Brian ÓConchubhair wn first place in 1984. Ruairí ÓConchubhair and Fiona Ni Chonchubhair won first place in their respective age groups in 1986 and Breandán Caball won first place in 2003. Under the musical directorship of Máire Uí Ghriofa and John Mason Craobh Thrá Lí have consistently entered the Grúpaí Cheoil competition down the years with very good results and this group represents C.C.É in many public gatherings and occasions in Tralee. Practices were held in Dúchas House, Edward St., Gaelscoil Mhic Easmainn, and currently in Gaelcholáiste Chiarraí. Bíonn ár ranganna de ghnáth trí mheán na Gaeilge.
