FLEADH CHEOIL NA hÉIREANN 2010 will have sweet memories for a large number of Kerry contestants as the County enjoyed huge success in Cavan over the weekend. BRANCH NEWS: FOSSA/TWOMILE: Adult set dancing classes will commence on Monday 27th September at Fossa Community Centre. Beginners from 8pm to 9pm and advanced from 9pm. KILCUMMIN CCE: Congratulations to all our competitors who went to the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil in Cavan. Results are as follows; Conor Moriarty 1st, Kilcummin Half Set 2nd and Aisling O’Connor 3rd. Well done and to all who travelled and supported.
BALLYDONOGHUE CCE: Congratulations to both Kevin O’Neill and Kilian O’Carroll who got 2nd in their competitions in the All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil held in Cavan on Saturday last. Kevin got 2nd place in the Accordion while Kilian received his 2nd place in the Banjo. This is a tremendous result for these two young boys who have put so much work into their music. Everyone in the branch would like to say well done. Also on behalf of the branch we would like to pass on our congratulations to Conor Moriarty Kilcummin who became All Ireland Champion after winning the Senior Accordion in Cavan on Sunday last at the All Ireland Fleadh Cheoil. Well done Conor on your achievement you deserve it.
CRAOBH THRÁ LÍ: Well done to Máire Bean Ui Ghríofa who spoke so well with interviewer Áine Uí Laoithe on "An Saol ó Dheas" (Raidió na Gaeltachta) on Monday. Her Craobh Thrá Lí musicians performed admirably also. I measc na gceoltóirí bhí Aisling Ní Mhuircheartaigh, Méadhbh Daltún, Brian Óg Caball, Breandán Caball, Shelley Ní Eidhin (who travelled all the way from Roscommon for the programme). Mo cheol sibh! Well done also to Fearghal Mac Conmara who was interviewed (ar an gclár céanna) and spoke of his experiences with the Kerry Minor Football team. Is ceoltóir maith é Fearghal agus tá sé go maith in ann an consairtín a láimhseáil.
CCE BARR NA SRAIDE: Our 7th and final Seisiun show was held last Thursday night in the Valentia Community Centre. The audience enjoyed a great night of music, song, dance and storytelling! A great night and a mighty session was enjoyed in Boston's Bar after the show! A big Thank you to anyone who made sandwiches sold raffle tickets and helped in anyway throughout all the Seisiun shows and during the summer. Your help was very much appreciated!! Thanks to everyone in all the different venues for their hospitality and kindness! The branch will hold a session in Mike Murt's on Saturday the 11th of September for senior musicians. All welcome! Music classes will commence on the first week of October. There will be a registration night for classes the last week in September. Please keep an eye on our notes for further information on classes. Anyone who has not returned their forms for the trip to the Aran Islands, Please do so before the end of the week to the secretary. Congratulations to Cillian O'Donovan who won the all-Ireland athletics championships in Tullamore last weekend. Well done Cillian.
